Feeding can feel overwhelming when there’s so much pressure to get it “right”.
Not because you're doing anything wrong—but because there's so much noise, pressure, and conflicting advice.
I created The Feeding Nest to offer something different. A space that feels calm. Grounded. And genuinely supportive.

You Might Be Here Because…
Maybe mealtimes in your home feel harder than you expected.
Perhaps your child eats only a small number of foods, refuses meals you've prepared, or becomes upset when something new appears on their plate.
You might find yourself wondering:
- Is this normal?
- Am I doing something wrong?
- How do I help my child without making things worse?
Feeding struggles can feel incredibly isolating — especially when it seems like other families are finding it easier. Many parents arrive here feeling worried, overwhelmed, or unsure what to try next.
If that sounds familiar, you are very much not alone.
The good news is that when you begin to understand what's driving your child's feeding behaviours, things can start to feel much more manageable.

My Background
I'm Anna, a paediatric dietitian with a special interest in feeding in early childhood.
I've worked across tertiary paediatric hospital services and community settings in Australia, supporting families navigating feeding challenges related to medical conditions, developmental differences, sensory sensitivities, neurodiversity, and the emotional stress that often comes with all of it.
My approach is grounded in responsive feeding principles.
I've completed additional training in responsive and SOS feeding approaches.
And one thing has become very clear through this work:
Parents don't just need more information.
They need reassurance.
They need clarity.
And they need support that helps them feel calmer and more confident around feeding again.

Why I Care About This Work
Over the years, I've sat with many parents who feel worried, confused, or even blamed when feeding is hard for their child.
I know how heavy mealtimes can feel when every day starts to revolve around what your child will or won't eat. Parents have often tried everything they can think of—offering different foods, negotiating "just one bite," bribing, short-order cooking —and still feel stuck.
One of the things I care deeply about is helping parents understand that feeding challenges are not a parenting failure.
Children eat (or don't eat) for many different reasons.
When parents begin to understand what's happening underneath the behaviour, something shifts.
The pressure starts to ease.
Parents feel calmer and more confident.
Children feel safer around food.
And small steps forward begin to feel possible.
My Approach
My work is grounded in responsive feeding.
This means we focus on:
- protecting the feeding relationship and trust between you and your child
- supporting your child's development and meeting them where they are
- creating a positive, structured mealtime environment to support nervous system safety and regulation
Because feeding isn't something we control.
It's something we support.
And I'll help you build the understanding and confidence to do that in your own home.

What Makes The Feeding Nest Different
There is no shortage of (sometimes conflicting) feeding advice online. But for many families, that advice can feel overwhelming, rigid, or difficult to apply in real life.
Common advice you may have heard
- Just keep offering the food
- Hide vegetables in meals
- Avoid preferred foods
- Push through refusal
- Follow strict feeding rules
When these strategies do not work, parents often feel like they are failing.
The Feeding Nest approach
- Understanding feeding behaviours
- Reducing pressure around meals
- Supporting skills gradually and safely
- Creating calmer, connected mealtimes
- Building confidence and reducing overwhelm
Evidence-based feeding therapy combined with practical, emotionally supportive strategies.

The Feeding Nest was created to offer something different.
Not pressure. Not perfection. And not quick fixes.
Instead, my approach combines evidence-based feeding therapy principles with practical, emotionally supportive strategies designed for real family life.
Together, we focus on
Understand behaviours
Learn why your child responds to food the way they do, and create a mealtime environment where curiosity can grow.
Support skills gradually
Small, safe steps that build confidence over time, with clear boundaries and routines that support progress.
Calmer, connected mealtimes
Less tension, more connection around the table, so you feel clear, capable, and supported in your choices.
Because meaningful feeding progress does not come from more pressure.
It comes from understanding, safety, and support.
What Usually Changes First
When families begin to approach feeding differently, the first changes are often quieter than expected.
It's not usually a child suddenly eating lots of new foods.
Instead, what shifts first is the feeling around mealtimes.
Meals start to feel a little calmer.
There is less pressure and fewer battles.
Children may begin to:
- tolerate food nearby
- sit at the table more comfortably
- interact with food in small ways
These small steps matter.
Because learning to eat is a process—and when children feel safe, they are far more able to begin exploring food.

If feeding feels hard in your home right now, I want you to know something important.
You are not failing your child.
Many caring parents find themselves worried about how little their child eats and unsure what to do next.
With the right understanding and support, things can begin to shift.
You don't need to get feeding "perfect".
Small changes in approach can make a meaningful difference over time.
If you'd like support understanding your child's feeding and creating calmer, more confident mealtimes, The Feeding Nest is here to help guide you through step by step.
